This handcrafted oxidised sterling silver necklace with orange spondylus was created in the atelier of the leading design house of stone jewellery AQ 960 in Lima Peru.
The eyecatching orange, from the inner shell of the thorny oyster, spondylus set in the oxidised beaded silver make a wonderful addition to any summer outfit.
The first fossil of a Spondylus appeared around 232-235 million years ago and is much older than the pearl producing molluscs.
Nowadays they are found around the coastal areas of Peru and off the coasts of other sub trooical and tropical countries.
